I Wish I Could Talk To You A Poem

I wish you were here.
To talk to.
You were such
A good listener.
You would have told
Me to calm down.
When I was worked up
Over something political.
You would have
Made me laugh
Over some joke
To lighten the mood.
It was just a thing
You could naturally do.

Now I am feeling bereft
On a few levels.
Anxious about somethings
And sad that you are gone.
I guess I am selfish
To wish you were still here.
When I know you suffered so.

I am not sure about spirits
Or if they can come and go
But if I talk out loud
I hope you hear me
And send me a signal.
Don't make it too scary
As you know I frighten easily.
Maybe a light flickers
Or my lets out a whelp.
You know my Frankie
Has done that a time or two
When I have thought
The spirit of my old dog
Was about.
