Milk from Ohio to Costco, in Wisconsin? I thought Wisconsin was The Dairy State.
Kraft Pizza from Wisconsin to St. Louis,or Wisconsin to Pittsburgh? There isn't Kraft pizza closer to St. Louis than Wisconsin?
I thought we were in a fuel crisis. How can it cost less to make stuff and ship it hundreds of miles than it would cost to just ship the raw materials and make the stuff closer to "home"?
I better shut up. I may talk myself right out of a driving job.

_____Some of you may have seen a sign at the rear of a tractor trailer witch reads "This truck makes wide turns." and not understood what that should mean to you, as a "four wheeler", traveling behind that truck. What that means, is that when that driver makes a right hand turn on a standard two way road, he is going to move his truck all the way over to the left side of the street, as he is making the turn. If it is a two way / four lane street, the driver will put the tractor into the left lane as he is positioning for the right turn. If the driver is making a left turn from a multi-lane one way street, he will position his tractor in the lane right of the curb lane, to position himself for the turn. When this positioning is done correctly, the tractor is one lane away from the curb lane, while part of the trailer is still in the curb lane. This blocks traffic from getting next to the tractor. As the tractor trailer is turning the trailer starts to follow through the turn and opens up the curb lane, the tractor should already be at a 45 degree angle, stopping any "four wheelers" from trying to get by; because...AND THIS IS IMPORTANT...as the truck continues through the turn, the trailer will come back toward the lane it was in. On a right hand turn, the trailer should just miss the curb, utility pole, etc. On a left hand turn, the trailer should be just outside the Stop Line{That is what those BIG white line are for at intersections} of traffic on the street to the left.
To those of you who drive intelligently and would never try to get around a truck making a turn, I thank you. To anyone who has done it and not gotten hurt, or anyone who may do it: you could end up dead. When a truck driver is making a turn, he loses sight of all traffic behind him in his mirrors and if he doesn't see a car trying to sneak by him, he could end up either hitting that car with his tractor, or squashing it between the tailer and a utility pole. Hopefully, the only damage will be to the vehicles. I have seen car that got caught between a trailer and a utility pole once, while trying to sneak by. It was not a pretty sight.

Next lesson; Stop behind the big white Stop Line. Never mind the lesson. Just stop behind the big white Stop Line. Otherwise, you may have to back up, while traffic is blocked, because pulling past the big white Stop Line doesn't allow tractor trailers enough room to pull through a turn.

Nothing says "I love you and I want you to be mine forever."; quite like a pre-nup.

_____If you ask someone to marry you and then tell them that you want a prenuptial agreement...don't be surprised if they smack you in the face and get the heck away from the money grubbing ass that you are.
Let's here it for planning to fail! Huzzah!!!
{Just something I've been pondering lately.}

_____After my Dad died, I hadn't worked for like; over two years. I was a grasshopper, spending inheritance money and relaxing. Well, money was getting low, so I decided to get back into truck driving.
_____I started driving, hauling steel, in January. Also: I met My Bonnie Girl about then. Working long hours cut down on a lot of free time. Being in love with a woman severely lessons my want to be on Hookup.Date Naughty Affair Dating. Yep. I am in love, but sexually deprived. My Bonnie Girl lives 529 miles away, in Wisconsin. Thank "God" for Priceline Name Your Own Price airfare. I've flown to her twice. She has flown to me once. It looks like this coming weekend is looking favorable for a long ride on the Harley. I rolled the dice...took a chance...so far I have been lucky (blessed).
_____As far as the steel hauling goes: the American Axle strike is having a trickle down effect and I have been laid off for about two weeks. So now I'm looking into going on the road and driving for either Roehl, or YRC Logistics. Either one will get me closer to My Bonnie Girl , so I can spend my off days with her. Roehl will even let me drop the trailer in their yard and drive the tractor the 16 miles to her house.
_____I've never been much of a writer. I think I will do a post on why you shouldn't try to pass a truck in the curb lane when the truck cockeyed at an intersection with it's turn signal indicating the driver is making a turn. {Hint: If you try to go by the truck in the curb lane because you are ignorant, you might not live to sue.} Yep. It'll be a rant.

I can't believe I forgot to update most of you on my decision on the Polar Bear Plunge. I decided against the "Super Plunger" status and decided to do the one time dip for the second time.

Yeah I know, I am a wimp. 10 jumps just seemed a bit much for me, though!

Anyway, the big day is fast approaching! I will be doing the dip into Lake Erie on Feb. 9th from the beach at Cedar Point.

My niece and one of my friends have decided to join me, so I am starting to gain a crowd...anyone else want in on this fun?

I wanted to send a special thanks to these wonderful blogging friends who have made a contribution to Special Olympics for me and the swim:

_____I don't know about you folks, but joy is something that I don't have a lot of in my life. So...if I get a chance to experience some, I treat it like a warm pool of water. I jump right in and immerse myself in it. I just wish it wasn't so cold when it comes time to get out pool.

_____It was about fifty degrees here in Cleveland today. Most all of the snow is melted. The streets were wet, but no ice or snow on them. So. I called my beast friend, who I haven't seen in months and suggested that he invite me out and feed me. Subtle. I know. I should have had the battery on the bike charged, but I didn't, so it took some trying to get it started. It was great to ride again. I almost forgot how good it feels. Kinda' like sex. The only part of me that was cold, was my face. I should have worn my full face helmet, instead of my half helmet.
_____Dinner with my buddy and his family was great. His wife is a good cook. Anything that I don't cook alone tastes better. They have three ; two sons and a . the are between six and ten. The gave us adults a chance to be goofy. I haven't laughed that much since...I don't know when. After dinner, we watched The Simpson's Movie. I would have never rented it, but watching it with them was great. It's actually pretty funny. There is a lot of subtle humor and even some off color humor aimed at adults, that the wouldn't get.
_____To make the evening perfect, my buddy had to help me push start the Beemer. When that didn't work, we used his truck to jump start it. I made it home fine. This was a good day.

Happy Shmoo Year!

_____The Shmoo first appeared in the strip in August 1948. According to Shmoo legend, the lovable creature laid eggs, gave milk and died of sheer esctasy when looked at with hunger. The Shmoo loved to be eaten and tasted like any food desired. Anything that delighted people delighted a Shmoo. Fry a Shmoo and it came out chicken. Broil it and it came out steak. Shmoo eyes made terrific suspender buttons. The hide of the Shmoo if cut thin made fine leather and if cut thick made the best lumber. Shmoo whiskers made splendid toothpicks. The Shmoo satisfied all the world's wants. You could never run out of Shmoon (plural of Shmoo) because they multiplied at such an incredible rate. The Shmoo believed that the only way to happiness was to bring happiness to others. Li'l Abner discovered Shmoos when he ventured into the forbidden Valley of the Shmoon, against the frantic protestations of Ol' Man Mose. "Shmoos," he warned, "is the greatest menace to hoomanity th' world has evah known." "Thass becuz they is so bad, huh?" asked Li'l Abner. "No, stupid," answered Mose, hurling one of life's profoundest paradoxes at Li'l Abner. "It's because they're so good!"

Ironically, the lovable and selfless Shmoos ultimately brought misery to humankind because people with a limitless supply of self-sacrificing Shmoos stopped working and society broke down. Seen at first as a boon to humankind, they were ultimately hunted down and exterminated to preserve the status quo. (Thought extinct after the 1948 adventure, one Shmoo always seemed to escape to Dogpatch's Valley of the Shmoon to form a new colony and a later plot revival by Capp). Licensed Shmoo merchandise became a huge phenomenon in the late '40s and early '50s, spawning a wide variety of dolls, toys, glasses, wallpaper, belts, books, jewelry, balloons, clocks, ashtrays, cannisters, salt & pepper shakers, dairy products, banks, belts and ear muffs. There was even an official Shmoo fishing lure! These are all highly collectible items today.

_____I awoke alone to in dreamlike state to the sound of loud explosions. My mind told me that we were being nuked. At least my end would be quick. I went back to sleep. I next awoke at 2:00AM to the realization that it was 2008 and that the explosions I had heard earlier, were from M80's, not nuclear bombs. Gee. I missed New years Midnight. Darn. Should I get up? To what? I went back to sleep.
_____Maybe this year will be better than most of the lasts several years.

_____My Brother and Sister in law had me over for Christmas dinner. My best friend called, wished me a Merry Christmas and invited me to his house for Christmas dinner. (I went to my brothers.)
_____The special people in my life kinda' watch out for me, especially on holidays. There aren't many of them, but I have plenty. They bring some sunshine to my world.
_____I know I can't be the only person on here who has had friends and family invite them into their homes to share a little emotional warmth on holidays. Please join me in sending a little thank you prayer out to all of them. They are great people. Aren't they? (I wonder what my best friend and brother would think, if they knew I was sending them a public thank you on a "sex site".)
