Back in the Day: New Job

Back in the day, after I quit other, evil job, got a new one. A fresh start at "normal" life, the "job" was already on my records, so I thought would give it a shot.
Started working at a small donut shop, at the bottom, as the delivery/clean-up. Delivered about 300 to 400 dozen donuts to factories and churches in the area. When done delivering, would mop the floors, wash the mixing parts and other dishes.
Worked my way up to be the donut fryer, just frying yeast raised donuts, either plain (to be filled n iced, or glazed. All total, did 600 to 700 dozen a day for our shop, a satellite store, and the orders. Wasn't easy, had 2 left hands, clumsy as Hell at first! Over proofed some donuts, burnt some, along with my fingers. With time, and a million repetitions, got fast n good, not all clumsy or mistimed.
Got my chance to be lead baker, cutting the dough to make the donuts. That really made me feel like a clumsy, left-handed dork! All thumbs! Was so damned slow, the person frying donuts had to wait on me! After cutting the donuts, had to ice all the donuts, again was so clumsy n all thumbs! But, again, after doing the job over n over again, night in, night out, got faster than the owner. Worked there 10 years. But, it was much, much better than my "evil" job!!!!
Did that until I moved to Arizona, to a REAL bakery!
PS edit......This was back in the 1980's, not the present, still with my company now.

Hate missing work, hate NOT knowing why I'm sick, n hate being stuck in bed!

Hospital Stay

Well, that intestinal bug put me in the hospital for 3 days, lower GI virus/infection of undetermined origin. Ran tests, found no cause. On IVs the whole time, got out this AM. Feeling better, just kind of weak, can eat again, light foods.
Not up to blogging much right now.

Changing My World: A Better Life

Got married on leave to my first wife, had two sons, but mostly was here and gone, gone long periods of time. She left me, mainly because she liked dancing and playing. When I "quit", the big checks dried up, all the more reason for her to just not want to be married..
In between "jobs" gave me time to think some. 10 years of a hard life, a long time to justify bad things done in the name of "good", block out horrific scenes in my memory.
I had no illusions the people I worked for were bad, trying to do "good". Even still, knew they could not be trusted. I was once told my "orders" came from the "highest levels", but I never asked the why or who.
One day, a fateful one, I decided I wanted to change my world, make a better life for myself. I quit, told them no more "prized asset" game for me, walked away, disappeared as it were. (I had a very small funeral, BTW)
I started anew in the states, but, with their massive connections, my employer was not satisfied with me quitting, disappearing or "dying". And, not willing to give up their "prized asset", they sent 3 of my former comrades to "persuade" me to come back. It did not go well.....for them, as their orders were clear, bring me back or else. I did what I had to send a message to my ex-employer, and survive.
Got remarried, tried to live a plain, normal life. The marriage lasted maybe 2 years. Mostly my fault, my obsessions, my compulsive behavior. Ghosts in my closet that haunted me, so we did not make it.
Spent next few years lost, looking for my soul, make peace with myself. Wondered the world some, visited what few, trusted friends outside of the circle I was associated with, Buddhist monks. They gave the strength to face my "demons", make peace with myself, accept life again, get ready for the next life.
Got re-married, got my sons back, lived happily until they both graduated high school. LOL. Then both moved back with their mom out East, and my wife decided she didn't want to be married anymore. Humm, had heard that story before, 2 times. She moved out, with some taxi cab driver back East, that she met on the internet, never in person! She got pregnant, had a girl, her biggest wish. The taxi driver, he was shot and killed in a holdup few years later. Karma? Maybe so.
After that, worked contently at grocery store, a front end manager some, but mostly in the bakery, something I enjoy. Been with my Lady 18 years now, best part of my life, my true "better" half, keeps me grounded n sane. Of course, we've had our share of hard times (my surgeries/back issues), her DUIs/drug abuse. But, made us stronger from it, stronger love!
Now, I'm still a hermit, un-trusting, and unfriendly in real life, walls built long ago for a reason, to survive. I live peacefully, and entertain you great people some with my "life's" story! (Hopefully)

Saw An Old True Friend

Was shopping recently in a store I used to work at, some 18 years ago, ages ago.
Saw this pretty blonde walking in front of me........I Know That Walk!
It was a girl who I used to work with at this very store! She the photo/electronic manager, while I was the front-end manager! Wow! One of my only "true" friends in a cruel company. (Just friends, nothing more, she was same age as my sons)
I spoke up, "Hey, YOU!".
Her eyes lit up like Christmas Day, a huge smile on her face, and she RAN into my arms! She gave me a huge kiss, tightest hug......saying, "GOD! I've missed you so much!"
Told how I HAD missed her, too. She couldn't stop hugging and kissing me, smiling like happy that she always was.
She grabbed my hand, drug me to the coffee shop there, and we had coffee while chatting. She was just off of work, and had time to chat like the old days. She had gone through tough times, breast cancer, I had sent her cards and flowers to cheer her up. she was a tough , beat the cancer.
Anyway, she couldn't stop smiling, gushes how much she missed me in her life, day to day! I missed her a great deal, too, working with her! Secretly, I wished I was 20 years younger, when she pops up and tells me, "You're so damned handsome!", out of the blue.
I just laughed and told her I look like an "old man", which she said, "NO, YOU DON'T!", smiling like crazy, almost crushing my hand!
Our time was at an end, she had to go, but she made me, MADE ME promise to stop by more often to see her! We kissed our goodbyes, huge hugs, that huge smile still on her face!
For her, I will try to keep that promise, my only trusted, true friend!
