I Digress Some

I digress some......Yes, I had excellent training.
But, no amount of training can prepare one for true combat in the field! The total chaos that surrounds you, bullets flying, explosions, the cries for help and the fear!
The training teaches, preaches calmness in this storm of combat, slows the action down in your mind's eye, to be level-headed and survive. If one panics, or hesitates, people can die.
Same can be true with making the shot. Rush it, and you will miss the target. Slow is smooth....smooth is fast, and accurate. Breath slow and easy, visualize the shot, visualize the bullet's path, slowly squeeze the trigger......DO NOT RUSH OR JERK THE TRIGGER!

Time flies by!
Had a full week, went to gun range 3 times, fired about 500 rounds from my firearms. So relaxing, concentrating on just that, making the shot, keeping my skills sharp. (Making people jealous at my marksmanship! Even had bystanders gather to watch! )
Restocked on ammo, perused some pistols.
Went to the eye doctor for my checkup, which went well. No changes in sight! YEA! Nice to get good news for a change!
Everyday have to wear electo-sonic belt to build bone growth in my back, for 2 hours.
Did dishes, cleaned up house a bit. Washed my baby, the truck.
Retirement is not easy! LOL!

For 3 years now, proudly display these window decals on my "Baby's" back window. Not only do I get comments on my Baby ("sure is a beautiful truck!) , but many on the decals, and their meaning ("Were you really in the Special Forces? And, a sniper with the Rangers?).

I know my blogs don't make me popular here. Sharing my past, my somewhat hard line stance on things, but that is me.
I lived 3 different lives:
1) A shy boy, growing up isolated from "popular" . Taught me to be independent n not care what others might think about me. Dad was ex-Navy, a strict but kind man. Taught me how to shoot, gave me my first rifle n shot gun. We often went hunting together, enjoyable times for us, as well as fishing together. Enjoyed working with him on our house.

2) As a , was recruited by a government agency, trained and "loaned" out to the Army Rangers for covert operations. Shipped all over the world, but spent most of the time based in SE Asia. Saw the horrors of war, death all around, did my part to "protect" American "assets" by any means necessary. For 10 years, I was a "ghost", until I quit.

3) Spent the last 35 or so years as a tough, quiet baker......nondescript, mostly unseen by many, working 3rd shift.

Those lives shaped my life, but I have changed in my older years, allowing a softer side of me show sometimes. But, still have "walls" built to isolate me.
One thing has not changed, firearms have always been a part of my life. Out of the 2nd "job", and a necessary need from it, I'm always armed. Have seen much in my life, have the training needed to defend myself and others if need be.
Some would call me a "hermit", but I'm comfortable with that, am used to working by myself.
Used to think sex was an escape, a pleasure, but old age and health has stolen that from me. So, my blog isn't as "sexy" as it once was..........I just accept that.

Veterans Day, a day to honor my brothers in arms. To all of us that served, be proud for doing your duty to keep America free!

I swore a oath, to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States, from both foreign and domestic threats! That with NEVER change!
I am a lifetime member of the NRA, proudly defending the 2nd Amendment.
I am a proud Government DOD Veteran and American!
My past has molded me into a stronger person!

Thoughts N Prayers to Texas

Sending my thoughts n prayers to the whole town of Sutherland Springs, Texas. Such a horrible thing for them all to suffer through! My heart goes out to them.

Guns are not evil, no more so than vehicles are. People are evil, whether it be a person who was a prohibited felon having gotten firearms, slipping through the failed system in place, or a terrorist renting a truck. Or, a drunk driver running a red light or driving the wrong way on the highways. Difficult to stop the horrific carnage, with no warning signs in evidence.
We may never know the reasons why they snap. All we can do is be prepared, be vigilant, and hope that some lessons can be learned.

"That's My Job"

"That's My Job" by Conway Twitty

I woke up cryin' late at night when I was very young
I had dreamed my father had passed away and gone
My world revolved around him, I couldn't lie there anymore
So I made my way down the mirrored hall and tapped upon his door.

And I said, "Daddy, I'm so afraid!
How will I go on with you gone that way?
Don't wanna cry anymore so may I stay with you? "
He said, "That's my job, that's what I do
Everything I do is because of you, to keep you safe with me
That's my job, you see. "

Later we barely got along, this teenage boy and he
Most of the fights it seems were over different dreams we each held for me
He wanted knowledge and learning, I wanted to fly out west
Said, "I could make it out there, if I just had the fare
I got half, will you loan me the rest? "

And I said, "Daddy, I'm so afraid
There's no guarentee in the plans I've made
And if I should fail who will pay my way back home? "
And he said, "That's my job, that's what I do
Ev'rything I do is because of you to keep you safe with me
That's my job, you see. "

Every person carves his spot and fills the hole with life
And I pray someday I might light as bright as he.

Woke up early one bright fall day to read the tragic news
After all my travels, I settled down within a mile or two
I make my livin' with words and rhymes and all the tragedy
Should go into my head and out instead as bits of poetry.

But I say, "Daddy I'm so afraid
How will I go on with you gone this way
How can I come up with a song to say, "I love you."
"That's my job, that's what I do
Ev'rything I do is because of you to keep you safe with me
That's my job, you see. "

"Ev'rything I do is because of you to keep you safe with me..."

Tribute to my Dad, sorely missed!

"Where Have You Been" by Kathy Mattae

Claire had all but given up when she and Edwin
Fell in love, she touched his face and shook her head
In disbelief, she sighed and said, "In many dreams
I've held you near, now at last, you're really here"

Where have you been? I've looked for you for ever and a day
Where have you been? I'm just not myself when you're away

He asked her for her hand for life, then she became
A salesman's wife, he was home each night by 8
But one stormy evening he was late, her frightened tears
Fell to the floor until his key turned in the door

Where have you been? I've looked for you for ever and a day
Where have you been? I'm just not myself when you're away

They'd never spent a night apart
For 60 years she heard him snore
Now, they're in a hospital
In separate beds on different floors

Claire soon lost her memory, forgot the names
Of family, she never spoke a word again
Then one day they wheeled him in, he held her hand
And stroked her hair, in a fragile voice she said

"Where have you been? I've looked for you for ever and a day
Where have you been? I'm just not myself when you're away"

"Where have you been? I've looked for you forever and a day
Where have you been? I'm just not myself when your away
I'm just not myself when your away"

Tribute to Mom & Dad, lived full, long lives together, taught me right & wrong. Taught me skills needed in life, sorely missed until we meet again.

Just because, cooking a turkey breast with stuffing, mashed potatoes. Love turkey away, have most nights for dinner, a great sleep aid!
My stuffing gets seasoned bread by me, onions, and boiled gizzards n hearts. Hers is just seasoned, doesn't like the extras.

Had The Pleasure

Was in my favorite tactical shop, perusing the new models of rifles (of which I selected a fine S&W AR-15). Had the pleasure of meeting 2 active duty Army soldiers. Stopped, saluted them, shook hands with both, and thanked them for their service. They in turn, asked me if I had served (which was obvious, since I saluted), and thanked me in kind when I told them I had.
Chatted a bit with me before they had to head off. Very pleasant young men! They expressed to me how many people don't thank them, such as I had, SHOCKING!
I try to always, if possible, to thank all branches of military members, as well as the police.

Monday's looking to be great day! Check from bank (from investments) will be transmitted to pay off medical bills.
Out of pocket costs were 21,000.00, a hefty some, but better than 350,000.00! Medical system and costs are broken, out of control! For one 8 hour surgery, 7 days hospital stay (normal room), tests, meds, therapy, Xrays, MRIs galore. CRAZY!
