A Mystery

It is a mystery to me. Now, I'm not exactly known for being overly friendly, more so known as being grumpy looking. Yet, when I do venture out to the store, I can be sliding out of my truck (still have trouble with that physically), or walking into the store, people I don't even know will brightly smile at me. And, greet me warmly!
I not sure how to take that. Being followed n watched by "friendly" agents, n probably unfriendly ones, I'm used to. But, they keep their distance, not making any close contact with me. Certainly not greeting or engaging me one on one.
Don't know if it's because I proudly wear my Special Forces Army Ranger's hat, or have Special Forces Army Ranger/sniper emblems on my truck back window. Or because they can see I struggle somewhat at getting out of my truck, or walk a bit slower. Or, because I'm old, bald, n have a grey goatee, always armed openly with a sidearm. I dress mostly in military style clothes (old comfortable stuff).
I understand Vets saluting me (was "given" the rank of "Lieutenant"), just wonder why some people go out of their way to smile n greet me in such a friendly way.
Yea, I have trust issues.......know how bad the world can be.

POTUS Phone Call

In my time, as CO of my unit, I had at times, made that call to families. It is not one easily made, could have deferred it to next in chain of command, but it was my team, my brothers, my "family".
We lived together, relaxed together, worked together, and fought together as a team. No one was EVER left behind, no matter the situation. And, sometimes, death to a close comrade happened.
When I called, I was just as emotional as the family, because they were my family, too. I told them this, "Your loved one died a hero, was the best friend we all could have. It was an honor to know him, live with him as a brother, true family. He is at peace now with God, and he will never be forgotten, as you will never be forgotten as a Gold Star family. His brothers will always be at your side."
I'm not saying I said it better, but it should NEVER be made into a political "fight". It is to honor a true American Hero, and his grieving family. May God bless the brothers who lost their lives, fighting for freedom of those who are oppressed.

Squirrel's Habits

Most people know of squirrel's habits. They collect nuts & seeds to store away for winter, mostly in their nests. Sometimes they bury them in holes they dig in their territory, mostly forgotten over time, I guess.
In our pool garden, there is a group of plants growing.........corn! Since it's getting close to colder weather, nothing else was planted, so have a "gift" from the squirrels, a forgotten cache of corn. It's a sure bet that more than half the trees growing on Mom & Dad's property were "planted" by the many squirrels that lived in the area! Forgotten "gifts" in the lawn, gardens n hills: oaks, hickory, buckeye, cottonwood (although the massive snow seeds could be to blame!), walnut n sycamore.
Miss those old growth woods in our backyard, wonderful "playground" n so beautiful! Don't miss the winters, though!

When putting on socks, tying your shoes, and trimming your toenails becomes a torment, you just put on slippers or flip flops. Just don't bend that way anymore!
Have to wear the electro sonic brace for 2 hours a day becomes a pain. It's like wearing a pregnancy belt with a big belly, hit it on everything! Can't drive with it on, very uncomfortable!
Not supposed to so many things, bend, twist, lift over 20 pounds or sit longer than 15 minutes. Have to go to one knee to pick up stuff from floor! GRRRRRRRRRR!
Can walk or use elliptical strider all I want, but not what I want to do to keep busy.
AND, NO SEX! For up to a year! WTF!

900 posts, not all that impressive, but still a long journey to that mile marker.
My interest in sex is not diminished, just physical limitations. Still have a naughty, active mind. Price of age and misuse of a worn out body, combined with too many back surgeries. This one will be the very last one, don't wish to go through the limitations and recovery they impose. Getting too old for that shit. Will just live with whatever now comes down the road.

Scary Dream(s)

Was trying to watch baseball last night, but sleep was winning. In my half sleep/half awake, I could had SWORE my Lady told me was going to go Sam's Club. When I got up to eat something, I asked her about it, but she said no hadn't said that!
This morning, I get a text from her saying she's stopping by Sam's to get grand-baby's formula. I replied back...so you did say that last night! She text back, couldn't have, didn't the message until this morning from her !
That's F*****G scary! How could I dream that up!!!!!!!!!????????? I've never been able to see the future before!

Now, in light of current news events of the shooting, seems to have triggered flashbacks in my dreams. Probably because it was real, not some action movie. Those are unsettling, to say the least!

So, final cost for back surgery was over $350,000, before insurance. Yikes! That is F******g scary! Only owe about $20,000 in deductibles, which is manageable.
Frightening to think one surgery could break some families, leaving them broke for ages! Kinda outrageous, really, how medical bills have sky-rocketed!

Brings Back Old Memories

Am quite sure most have seen the news accounts, videos of the horrific killing spree from other day. Very disheartening and saddening!
That is what memories haunt me sometimes. War. Nonstop machine gun fire, from all sides, screams of pain, explosions. No time to be afraid, no time to anything but keep shooting, reloading, protecting yourself and your bros.

My heart goes out to all that were innocent victims of a crazy man, and their families. May those who perished be at peace with the Lord. May those who still suffer heal quickly. May those who will be tortured in the future by this horrible event seek help. There can be peace in your heart. It is a difficult road they will face.......I truly know!

Fall Is Here!

Yes, Fall is here, both officially and in weather! Rarely does the weather actually follow the calendar, usually still around 100's average temp highs, mid 80's to 90's for lows.
But, Mother Nature forgot that, high's in the 80's, low this AM was 62 at my house!
F***! Hate that, too damned cold until 9 AM, got to 70. Pool down to 68, too damned cold to swim, don't have a dry suit either.
