The Novice And The Jaded Soul

You think you are so smart
With your sarcastic remarks.
You think you veil it well
But I and others can tell
That you are not
The nicest of fellows.

You are mean
It peaks through
We see it
We can imagine you
Almost thrilled
When you get to
Crush a naive soul.
Because you are what?
So knowledgeable
Holier than thou?
Wanting company
In your cynicism
And jaded views?

Ah to be the novice
To come to understand
Through their own
Trial and error
Not to be beleaguered
By those who have
Ulterior motives.

But fostered
By kind and gentle souls
Whose wisdom
Was accrued
By pain and loss.
Who share their stories
In the hopes to avoid
That for another
Not to gloat
That someone has
Yet to learn.

My Particular Kind of Nonsense A Poem

It's all nonsense isn't it?
The rantings of maniacs.
Myself included.
Where is the silence
Is it in the woods?
But there nature abounds
Perhaps that is more soothing
To our beleaguered spirits?
No voices
But plenty of noises
That could be scary
If there are predators
Seeking their prey.

A dark room
A bed with all it's finery
Sheets, a comforter
And pillows.
A place to rest
One's head.
Maybe physically
But the mind works still
Gears turning.

Nonsense being made of
Adorned with a crown
Of thorns.
As we see what we want.
Our lives before our eyes
Thoughts and memories
Solving some problems
Of the day.
Oh and worrying.
That nonsense we know well!

Maybe I am just projecting
Yes. That must be it.
For I know not
What you think.
I am just imagining
My particular kind
Of nonsense.

Sad Songs Found Me A Poem

I am beset by sad music
Music of the heartache variety
I just let Youtube do it's thing
After initially looking up
Above all things
Black Eyed Peas
Be Nice
Their song chosen
As a result of
The show Songland
Of which I am a fan.

It went on to Imagine Dragons
Almost an hour's worth.
That was good stuff.
One of my current favorite bands.
Then on to Sia.
Oh my dear!
The song Breathe Me
Why had I never
Paid attention
To the words?
Tonight I did
I sought them out.
They got to me
As I had recently
Broken up with someone.

Ah yes then they came
Sia, Adele and Paloma Faith
Then Coldplay of which
I greatly admire
The heart and soul
Of Chris Martin
He is one sweet guy.
I would let him Fix Me
You can bet on that.
But I might be too
Tall a task
Even for him.

Then more stuff
Like Chasing Cars
By Snow Patrol.
What a wonderful song!

Not sure if there is a point
To my poem
Just that I spent the night
Listening to sad songs
They found me
Via the Youtube Algorithm.

Spinning Wheels To Nowhere A Poem

Spinning wheels
Go round and round
A figure of speech
To talk about going nowhere
Today it is still apt
For doing the same thing
Over and over again.
It is the story of
My life so far.

I will get somewhere
If it kills me.
But it might only be
To the cemetery
Scratch that
And scatter my ashes
In some far off places.
At least some of me
Will bear their witness.

Since We Met On Hookup.Date Naughty Affair Dating A Poem

It's still raw
Yes it is still raw
Is the emotion
Regarding the man
I had been involved with.
Going on two weeks since
He told me that he was
Going to see someone else
Someone more suitable.

I have to get this
Off my chest.
What the matter
Really is.
He basically intimated
Since we met on Hookup.Date Naughty Affair Dating
I was not worthy of respect.
The nice more suitable woman
He met on a normal
Dating website.
Ah yes those.
Go figure!

I had always had hope
That someone could be
As open minded as me
But men have this block
When they see
Women as potential girlfriends
Or just as a piece of meat.

If you meet on Hookup.Date Naughty Affair Dating
You are relegated to something
Other than
Basically the highest level
Will only ever be
Friends with benefits.
Which sounds good enough
To some folks
But the heart wants
What the heart wants
As the Aria Grande song goes
For some of us
That might be romance
And ultimately love.

To us fools
Us romance junkies
Still on Hookup.Date Naughty Affair Dating.
That once upon a time
Had a better reputation.
We stay
Because we think
Some man has the sense
To treat women the same
Wherever he finds them.

Platonic Friend Wants More A Poem

It is sad that I have had
To end a few friendships
Over my not wanting
To be more than platonic.
Well that sounds bizarre
Because if a guy was
Pushing for more
He probably was just
Being a friend to
Lower my defenses.

So I will admit
I might have flirted a bit
But they had partners
That they said they
Were with
Although not happy
They stayed
In their relationships.

I am not someone that
Wants to be second fiddle
I may have accepted that
In the past
But it did not sit well.
So now that I have
More self esteem
And can be more assertive
I tell a guy straight
What I need now.

I will not be a side chick.
If that is your idea
My friend you are
Going to be disappointed.

If you are a friend
Like you said
You would understand
But if you were just pretending
You will have to look elsewhere
For your next affair.

A Giver A Poem

I asked a friend
What he thought
Made a good lover.
He responded with
A few statements
What he appreciated most
Is if the woman
Was a giver.
Which led to the idea
Of what that meant.

I wanted to shed
My own light
On what that meant
So I started to think.

Am I a giver?
Oh dear am I!
I give so frigging much of myself
I barely have anything left.

An ex lover said
I was so willing
And wanting.
He loved so many things
That we did.
But it was not enough
To keep him.

It makes me wonder
If there ever will be
Someone who really
Appreciates what I have to give.
Who thinks it more
Than just sex
Instead calling it lovemaking
And he in turn
Gives as good
As he gets.

Puffin Love A Poem

Let's be like puffins
Let's love like birds.
With their quaint way
Of kissing
By tapping their bills
For this we can use
Our human version.
As tapping our noses
Might begin to hurt.

Let's frolic on
A beautiful meadow
That adorns the cliffs
Above the ocean.
Shuffling like puffins
Or we can just walk
Along the water's edge
At the beach.
With the same back
And forth bumping
Into the other.
How funny we will look
Like weebles wobbling.
People will surely wonder
If we were intoxicated!

Would that be far off?
We are indeed
Intoxicated with love!
So much so
We are ready to settle down
And make a nest.
Ah puffin love
At it's best!
In our case
We might talk
About moving in
With one another
Or even marriage.

Not everyone can be
Like the Puffin.
Not everyone has the capacity
For exclusivity
Not everyone has that
Idea ingrained
That they have one true love.
But for those that do
Life with their partner
Seems like a dream come true!
A reality that makes life
Nearly heaven on earth.

So Many Lessons A Poem

So many lessons
Within the last two weeks
So much growth
That was spurred
By necessity.

I had to let go
Of some things.
Oh did it hurt
When I separated
They were comfortable
And what I knew.
That is when I had to
Become the butterfly
Instead of the caterpillar
I had to fly
Instead of just barely move.

So many lessons
Growth indeed happened.
Now to keep on growing
And not to slide back
To those old comfortable patterns.

Shady And Selfish A Poem

A long time ago
He and I shared things.
But he got cocky
And lied too many times.
Ah the games he played
Forgetting what he
Had previously said
Including his name.

Shady is what he might
Be called by some.
But we did have
Some laughs
We did have
Some fun.
He has what you would call
A hard set of buns.
I have spanked it
On many an occasion.
He tries to lure a visit
With a hint of that action
Thinking it quite the motivation.
But he has been wrong
As I have been strong.
Denying him his
No strings
Attached romp.

He once was married.
He is now divorced
Looking for a normal
Dating situation.
Oh brother! Watch out women!
He will be cheating on
You soon enough!
He has no loyalty
Except to himself.
Shady and selfish
Those terms fit him a T.
Thank goodness I have
The willpower
To overcome
His sales technique.

Gift Horses A Poem

That saying don't look
A gift in the mouth.
That might ring true
For many of us.
Men and women
Wanting to find someone
Settling for just anyone.

I have been guilty
Or should that be the victim?
As I took what was offered
Few questions asked
And few questions answered.

It was the proverbial
Take it or leave it scenario.
Do I want his attention?
Any man's will do?
It now makes sense
Of many a debacle
Many a fiasco
With men of little worth.

Conversely, they saw me.
I was the gift to them.
But what really mattered?
A warm body?
A woman who was willing
To do and perform
Some erotic acts in the bedroom?
Someone with a libido
That was strong
Perhaps calling me a nympho
Wasn't that far off.

So gift horses
Modern dating
Or hookup participants
They were each afraid
To really examine
What was in front of them.

Fading Like The Sun A Poem

It is fading
Like the sun
Is my indignation.
In regards to him
And his rejection.

Thank goodness
I have such great friends
And they tell
Over and over
What I can't seem
To comprehend
Until eureka
Something finally clicks
And voila it sinks in.

They tell me
Didn't I have misgivings?
Didn't I know that he
Might jump at someone else?
He mentioned his biggest regret
Was that his marriage failed.
I had surmised that
If his ex wife wanted him back
She could
Very easily in fact.

So maybe this new woman
I should really pity?
She might have
Her heart broken
If the ex comes back
Into the picture.

To whom does he owe
His loyalty?
A woman he shared
So much with
But wouldn't seek counseling?
Or the new one
Who doesn't have those
Poignant memories
Those good times
Doing what they loved
And enjoyed?

It is still hard to fathom
What I will never be able
To do again.
To kiss him
To caress him.
Ah those were great actions!
I was comfortable
So very comfortable
With his entrance
And rhythm.
I even coined a phrase for it
His rhythming ways.
Now they are just
To be memories
That will in time fade.

A Light Lunch A Poem

I had a light lunch
Of cut mini cucumbers
Cherry tomatoes
And Cedar's stuffed
Grape leaves.

It was meant to be light
As I said
But it got me thinking?
How did such things
Come to be?
What is the origin of each?
Mini cucumbers
don't need to be peeled.
Cherry tomatoes
You can pop in your mouth
Unlike their bigger tomato versions
need to be cut
And those wonderfully stuffed
Grape leaves filled with rice.
They are in a lot of cultures
In the Mediterranean.
Good stuff.
And a good light lunch
Was made
And eaten.
