As dawn beckons I awake from my slumber . Another dream of the dark one..... this time an even more vivid dream she was in my camp, so close I could have touched her had it been reality .As i go to the stream and splash water on my face to clear my still drowsy mind I see my reflection . The quest for the path to the land beyond the shadow of the mist where i would ultimately find the Shadow has taken it's toll most certainly... both on the body and the mind. It seems she has been in me forever as if our souls had come together in a previous life, that I am sure of.... why she beckons me now I know not. Had we been lovers in another time.... another place.. before she traveled to the land beyond the shadows of the mist.... these questions can only be answered by her it seems.As I walk back into camp a cold shiver goes down my back......not more than a foot from where i lay last night...i see it . Just off to the side the mossy path that i lay beside was a single foot print....I had a visitor in the night. Could it be that it wasn't just a dream, was it her... the dark one ...or someone who had passed this way before me...never had i seen a trace of another this deep in the wilderness, but there it was .Alas maybe I'm not mad after all.... maybe she isn't just a figment of my imagination . I gather my bed roll and set off back on the mossy path now more determined than ever to find the one that haunts me so .....Stepping back behind a tree I see him awaken. Does he feel my presence that clearly ..or is it wishful thinking on my part?
I cannot have him enter this realm..for if he is not mad..he will be soon after entering it.
He rinses the sleep from his face...and what a face...so rugged and yet..one familiar in some way. No this is foolishness on my part...careless even to think he could or want to be with me.
Feel me...feel me mortal..my cool touch upon your spine..do you feel it?
He is looking to the ground..will he see my mark..will he follow it and know it was me.
Come to me mortal...follow me into the shadows...or turn away now.
What will I do with him there...dare I show him all, or just what his mortal mind can grasp? He yearns for escape..and answers..but am I the one to give that to him. Dare I lose him to possible madness brought on by the shadows ...or will he embrace it and let it seep slowly into his being...taking with it all light from his eyes...the eyes that search for me...will it taint his beating heart and turn it cold like my own and tint it as the darkness that holds mine.
I watch him pass by me in the darkened forest ...close enough to catch his masculine scent and as I inhale I want to reach out and touch him but I dare not as it will only chill him and perhaps cause fear in him...but his warmth I feel coming from him as he passes so close to me. I shall bide my time to see if he is determined to keep tracking me. I shall wait...and watch.

A persons heart will tell you how they lived,and perhaps died But it can never tell how it loved.
