Car Dealerships !!!!!!!!!

Ok I know two posts in one day. WOW LOL I'm going to vent now!!!

Yesterday when I went to the Polling place to cast my vote. I went back out to my car and had a flat. Well the first thing I did was call the road side assistance and found out that I did not purchase the extended plan. Oh well I can change a tire so I pulled out the owners manual to find out where the jack goes on the frame and then proceeded to get the stuff out for changing the tire. I first set the parking brake and then I put the jack into position and before raising the car I break loose the lug nuts. I then jack up the car. I take off the lug nuts and then try and move the tire to take it off so I can put on the spare. and well it would not move so I grabbed the tire and wiggled and shook it and damn it. It would not move. I moved the car soo hard that the car fell off of the jack. I was not hurt. I then raise the car again hoping at this point that the tire was knocked loose and I can take the tire off of the car. When I go and start wiggling the tire again it is still not budging so I then again wiggled the car hard enough to knock it off of the jack. Grrrrrr I called the dealership and I talked to the service people and they said that they can send some one out and I would have to pay them to take off the tire. I said thank you and I called a friend and he brought over a different jack and some lube to loosen any rust so the tire would come off. we let that sit for a bit and he jacked up the car with a different jack and still the tire would not move to come off. So he sits on the ground and starts kicking the tire with his feet I mean really kicking it. It finally comes off. We look to see if we see a hole and we see that the whole inside of the tire is worn down to the belts. Not a good thing Well me growing up in a house with a father who is a heavy equipment mechanic and a mother who is a certified auto tech. I state that the tire looks like it has not been rotated for a while and that would give a reason why it took soo much force to get the tire off of the car. This takes me to what happen today.

While I was on the phone with the Dealership I made an appointment for the oil to be changed because it was time and while I was at it I could get the tire fixed. That was before I knew what the tire looked like. I get to the Dealership and I talk to my new service Rep. and he has not done anything with my car before. I show him the tire and I tell him that this type of wear looks like the tire has not been rotated in a long time. I then ask when was the last time they were rotated because I get all of my oil changes thru the dealer and I have this wonderful package that I do not have to pay for the oil changes or tire rotations. The quick lube guy and the service rep. look up and see that the last time my tires were rotated were at 19,000 miles. So for over 20,000 miles the tires have not been rotated. I'm still calm at this point and trying not to get sooo mad that I'm going to start to cry. (it happens later). The service rep. tells me I'm going to need new tires and I'm like yes by looking at this tire that is in the back of my car I would say so. I have concerns about the alignment and if there was a problem because it looked like the tire was rubbing on something on the car. I asked to speak to a manager because I wanted to know if there is anything they could do about it because the tires were not properly rotated. At this point there are a lot of cars coming in for appointments so they move my car up and the service manager starts looking over the car he never said hello or what seems to be the problem. The service manager pulls out an air gauge and checks the air in the remaining tires and then goes and gets a tire tread gauge and checks the gauges of the 3 remaining tires. Still they have not come over and talked to me at all. So me being who I am. I go over and ask what do you think. Still the manager has not introduced himself. He goes you need new tires. I tell him that I planned on getting new tires at the beginning of the year. I wanted to know about why the tires were not rotated properly and why I was not told that the tires were getting to the point where they needed to be changed. He just kept harping that my tires were bad and I needed new tires. I then was to the point I was pissed off and crying. I go you guys are to do a 21 point inspection on the car when it comes in for an oil change and also to rotate the tires every 6000 miles and also let me know if something is wrong with anything. It took someone to actually pull out the air cleaner from my car and see that it is sooo clogged to finally tell me I needed a new one. All I wanted to know was about why the tires were not rotated and not told how bad the tires were. The manager walked away from me. I said I come to a dealership instead of going to a mom and pop oil change place to get my oil changed. I would get better service from them, than what I'm getting here today from you. I also said this also tells me to start going to the compations over in Bloomington from now on since you seem you do not want to help me. I did agree to 2 new tires and he was going not charge me labor.

I went into the bathroom and freshened up a bit and then went and saw my sales guy. I went and talked to him and told him that I wanted to talk to the General Manager. He asked me to tell him what happened.I told him and then the service rep. come in and tells me that I should buy 4 tires because it will mess up my all wheel drive system and with having 2 older tires and 2 newer tires. The tires would go at different speeds. I said no I only want 2 new tires and I will replace the other 2 at the beginning of the year. I then get on the phone to my Father and Mother and I ask my father if not having all four tires new that I would mess up the All wheel drive in the car. My dad was like that is not true. So I was sticking to my guns. My sales guy who is wonderful, comes back while I'm on the phone talking to my parents. Says that I'm getting 2 free tires and I will still have to pay for the other two. I'm like that is fine. I want you to know that I was not coming in here today to get 2 free tires I just wanted to know why the work was not done that I was told it was. He goes no I understand that.

Well the sales guy went to bat for me because he went to the service manager and told him that I was a loyal customer and that I have sent him many referrals, and that I will go all the way to the top if needed to find out why the rotations were not done. He goes you guys are going to loose more than a few oil changes if she does go to a different dealer. We are going to get a very bad rep about the service department and that is not good. So that is why the 2 free new tires. I mean that is a great thing and all but the way I was treated was what made me angry. when I went to pick up my car there was no apology nothing. So I'm still going to talk to the general manager when he comes back from vacation and let him know how the service manager treats there customers.

The dealership I'm dealing with is owned by the same person that takes care of the maintenance on my truck and on my Metro. I have never been treated like this at that dealership. I have bought 2 vehicles from there and my parents have bought 6 cars and trucks there and they have not been treated bad. So it just goes to show that it is not the same anywhere.

I had a bad car experience last night as well..however, my dealership went to bat for me and I have the best sales rep, who by the way, is a female! But I had to get a new battery, some type of fuse that has to do with the alternator and a new alternator. And it only cost me $250 plus my car got washed.....I couldnt be happier!!!

Im sorry you had such a sucky problem. But them sales people are amazing. Its always good to have a salesmen in your corner...
