Leda & The Swan
You have red toenails
Lacking hairs on your calves
Oh let me love you,
See your own
Dear face,
Lingering in the background
Mirror, reflective of
Nodding assent.

I dream of you
Shedding follicles from
Slow-motion breasts,
I dream of you leaving
With a skinny wringed neck bird,
I dream you know who
I really am.

Persian emperors, ordering
That the sun shall rise
Every dawn, set
Each dusk, I dream you can
Fly with me towards the orbit
Of the cycling moon.

Your throat is vestigial,
Anecdotal and I place
Numerous, sharp-beaked
Small sculptures shaped
By the hands of virgins.
Yours crimson tipped,
Take not part in that
crude abnegation, Leda.

Scarlet liturgies
Shake our foamy couplet,
A hillside of amaryllis blooms
In your upper thighs,
Pathways for the goat herds, oh
On mine, fervent delta, echo
Sheer linens blowing on the line.
