Sedna (In honor of the Inuit Goddess)
Sedna (In honor of the Inuit Goddess) Father An-Gu-Ta claims me to his plank lodge, and to him I eat his arm while he sleeps. It is heavy but hot... A heaving rust chain, his love, about my firm girl-limbs. Myself- I cry - I claim myself to me, I eat what I want, I want, I want... - when I please. From your body, the banks of these ice-crusted seas. Father is spitting a volcano, so erupting angry, He boils the sea, hunkers down in impotent rage. I'm not going to address - this no matter how he'll plea. Myself, wearing thick robes of walrus hide... I laugh at the suitors brought before me - I sit silent during the whole absurd kayak ride. Father is cajoling, mother will do as she is told He wants me to be happy, my maidenhead coinage He spears some salmon flanks. We devour mashing - pink-cold - Myself, I satisfy father's wish that I marry. I take you, my dog-spouse, to my bed and you mount me We hang upon one another- fur-flesh lust, I am a bone to bury Father - oh he throws boulders of rage at me, In my muddy, raven-feathered, a whitened leather Wedding attire sash wrapped sturdy as a wind-lashed tree Myself my fingers..lean down, stretch long and you devote Your mouth to them, consuming endless meaty digits... Come share with me a pleasure-death beyond this up-heaved boat. Father (I care not) he's long since given up. He yields, I will not be his princess in the sky, I'll instead ride Kissing urgent currents - we - frolicking seals in kelp fields. Sedna By Jane Laoi Crow Anger (a Native Inuit artist) In Inuit mythology, Sedna is a deity and Goddess of the marine animals, especially mammals such as seals. She lives in and rules over Adlivun, the Inuit underworld. |

Thank you. I was honestly a little nervous to touch on such a sensitive and controversial subject. Odd, the religious erotica doesn't phase me. I found this very meditative to compose. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Your comments are insightful. And appreciated. MT

Thank you! I am quite familiar with many works of myth and fairy tale. I have been writing and creating visual art related to these themes and with relate to both myself (autobiographical/self-portrait) and the 'every' woman, ever since I can remember but seriously since about 94. I'd love to know of a specific text or online resource you might recommend though. I'm always open to new sources of inspiration. Thanks again! MT

1. I knew it wasn't autobiographical. 2. I commented on it because I got it-that was just my take on it. Good. I also wanted to be sure nobody else worried about that. One never knows. There are certainly survivors amongst us. MT

Oh..wow. I've never seen interpreted in such an eerily erotic manner. Is she damaged goods for life, or has she become accustomed to a standard which no one may ever meet again? Like I said, eerily erotic..and a bit disturbing too. But you, always provoking thought...I heart you! Well. Yes...but. A. Not autobiographical at all B. Based on the original myth but my 'Jungian/Freudian/Modern Psychologically educated interpretation...' Like, in the myth she "eats his arm" but I know and you know that means she is forced to suck his cock. It's similiar to how in the Greek myth Athena is born out of Zeus's head but that really is about how people 'give birth to thoughts' and Athena is the Goddess of intellect...so to speak. MT
