Not a weird woman at all, so creative and intellectual you often leave me in your wake (but I love plodding along behind you!). I guess if I could link the whole vampire notion with catholicism it would be the drinking of blood, wouldn't it? In Roman Catholicism we believe we are literally eating the body and drinking the blood of Christ. And that by doing so we are sustained by and part of Him, and He of us, for eternity . . . It is odd to link that to True Blood (which I'm addicted to) but there is something to it. That all consuming compulsion to be totally part of and with someone . . . or something other than, and perhaps, greater than ourselves. Love your posts, MT, and thank you- nb Second, and again, YOU GET ME Not that I'm fixated on vampires, Catholicism or any hybrid - but the core ideas are definitely as you say - transferrable (HAHA I made a blood joke.) And as to my intellect and creativity - I'm stumbling around now to write some quasi-porno graphic post related to LipsSayAll, myself and an assortment of people I mainly will never meet licking me. Quelle challenge! MT

Bats and the BVM discussed together on a sex site . . . the nuns who taught me in grade school are rolling over in the graves. You posted the "Salve Regina" often said at the end of the Rosary -- one of my favorite prayers. My true favorite is the "Magnificat" or the "Canticle of Mary". I don't know if I could take a leap of faith (pun intended) and marry it to bats or zombies, but maybe you're poking and prodding may enable me to do just that. If it helps, let me try to explain my thinking. It is definitely not meant to be taken too literally, as in it's about bats and Catholic prayers and actual zombies or vampires or cannibals. Rather - It is about the feeling when you are obsessed with someone, you and that person are in a symbiotic kind of relationship - both sexually speaking and generally speaking. When that person and you melt into one body during intimate moments, even in a conversation - reading each others thoughts, finishing the sentences of each other etc. So then, it is about how in those moments or thinking of those moments you (or at least want to consume them as they are consuming you. Literally. Figuratively. To have them inside you as you are inside them. All of them, blood, skin, bones, hair, teeth, eyes, liver. I am a weird woman, I know. MT

Do you, Stephen? You wrote something that inspired me, dear. But, before you get too excited, no this is not about you. Or jello. Or Benadar, MDM, ODB, Dice, Molly, Dirtygirl, Smartgirl, or anyone else you probably talk with. But I am very glad you enjoyed! MT Stephen -at least YOU called me dear.

I am so pleased you enjoy the 'relationship' nature of this post. I actually began it based on a comment Stephen made on a different post, something about how I probably liked vampires - because the smart ones always do. So I began to think about intellect vs instinct, and vampires defined broadly as those who consume the essence of others - and also to think about zombies and cannibals. Then I got super complicated (big surprise?) and linked this new idea to my Saints' Poems idea by adding the Virgin Mary prayer. And people would pray if they were being attacked by a vampire, zombie, or cannibal - but they also DO pray, when in the depths of passion...height of passion. Up and down roller coaster ride, anyway. I don't know what I mean to say with the light year connection. Do you? MT Stephen -inspired?!..the ultimate compliment to a dumbass-much love for that.

Interesting ... Visceral on bats and Salve Regina... Here something that made start thinking, the eyes of the Virgin, the way she looks... and sees, her sight... most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; ---Oh clememte, oh piadosa o siempre dulce Virgen María. There is an interesting prayer by Saint Alberto Hurtado... in it he says... Si tú no me miras, Jesús que tiene sus ojitos clavados en los tuyos, no me mirará. Si tú me miras, El seguirá tu mirada y me verá y entonces con que le digas: "¡Qué pena!, necesita nuestra ayuda"... If you do not look at me, (Baby) Jesus who has his little eyes stuck in yours will not look at me. If you do look at me, He will follow your eyes and will see me then only if You tell Him: "What a pity!, he needs our help"... insightful words come to mind with the relationship among the writings. Thanks you. always a pleasure to read you. Besos, Marcia. I don't know what I mean to say with the light year connection. Do you? MT

What was it that made us favor intellect over instinctive passions, birds over bats, rationalizations over prayers and immediacy over patience? Will our prayers reach heaven with any more certainty on the wings of a dove in eight minutes of sunlight or with a bat in three seconds of moonlight? What a springboard of a post! Thanks. I debated putting in my (as Stephen calls it) 'Cheat Sheet' but I actually like to see myself how things piece together as you and others here have enjoyed. I don't know why I put the light year thing. I'd like to figure out a way to work that into the poem and yet the poem is done. Sigh. Any thoughts? LOL MT

The reason I LIKE bats, is cuz they take out all the flying/biting insects. The beetles don't bother me so much. If a bat was in my house, I would eradicate it, rather than tennis racket it. Stephen -I let ALL spiders live..cuz they take out the insects that BITE me.
