The Iceberg
The Iceberg As if the dark salty sea controls As his fluid skin push movement As we bend unravel enveloping As magnificence star-breath sings As melting leads to drip evaporate As mortal nothingness absolute As like give me whispers against As silken frostbitten fingers grab As calling and response lapses As under pulse depth of this one As hard waves prevent drowning As sure as spirit ripening collusion As a damp dry passage navigation As inevitable we do steer to some As yet undetermined collide grind As pressure churning milk does it As slide destination calls wordless As fatal frigid burning will rip coil As destructive capable fire burns Image: photograph by Ukrainian Konstantin Chernichkin depicting a couple kissing on Kiev's Bridge of Lovers on Valentine's Day. |

I don't see you as hopeless. You mentioned on Ferocious that you 'got it' so I'd say you are 'getting there' in 'getting it.' Yes, inevitable. I am a believer in fate and karma. But not in Judea-Christian God who sports sandals, a big beard, and a stern glance. A few weeks, we shall see what we shall see.

I love the repetition of a word in poetry . . . it sets up a rhythm (cadence) so beautifully yet, for lack of a better word, anchors it . . . . Love the poem -- and love the photo . . . I put a new musician on the front of my blog. Florence and The Machine. Have you heard the song (lyrics quoted here) "Heavy In Your Arms" --- I think you will really love it, dear NB - and she definitely uses cadence to the utmost in that one. MT

Thank you! Sorry for the delay in reply. I have less enthusiasm for sitting and writing when there is a heat wave - my apartment gets about 85 degrees - even if I run the AC. Now the weather has turned pleasant! YAY

First - you better watch it, mister, or I WILL steal your bloody lupins. And John Cleese's too. Second - I expected more sentence beginning with 'as' or at least sentence fragments. Third - if you include "Titanic" in a comment about a poem called The Iceberg I fear I may have to give you up to the "Ministry of Obvious." Ya know? MT - oh and IF you mention Celine Dion I will throttle you. Somehow.
