Poem Four in A Series: "Adrienne"

Stripped
you're beginning to float free
up through the smoke of brushfires
and incinerators
the unleafed branches won't hold you
nor the radar aerials

You're what the autumn knew would happen
after the last collapse
of primary color
once the last absolutes were torn to pieces
you could begin

How you broke open, what sheathed you
until this moment
I know nothing about it
my ignorance of you amazes me
now that I watch you
starting to give yourself away
to the wind

"November 1968" by Adrienne Rich
-------

She tells us cotton-flannel whispers of
Thirsty thighs, sticky, with drowsy eyes
Thrusts a black-blue ball of pungency
Unraveled like some yarn, rolling out
I have no idea if the other was ever told –
Scent of shaved filings, rank motor oil
Bathed echoes the chamber ghosts of
Filaments and iron fishing lures, cascade
The scaling flash, that spawning wetness
Taking, taking, an exploration of pain -
An olfactory expansion calling, blossoming up
From the balled up-sheets and her fingers
Seeking…placement of her tongue exact
Amazing, how sudden the scent boiling came -
Her mouth hovered, wild and delicate – at last
Resting in the recesses, weaving words to
The glow of a barn owl’s ocular precision
The other ceased to be, and both collapsed

Thanks! I will pop to the drug store tomorrow for my doctor-perscribed meds, but I am feeling much better already! Today I did major blog-housekeeping, as I am sure you saw. Tomorrow will be actual housekeeping blah blah!

Yeah I know. I am sorry. Things have been rough. Since December 15th or so, I have been pretty sick. Also, I've had a run of bad luck with my technology. First late Nov., my PC died. Then my phone began to have problems. Then I got a new laptop but it was network protected, so I could only be a guest - could not add programs etc. That got fixed over Christmas, because we swept it back to factory-new, wiping out the old stuff, including my router drivers. I could go on, but you see the problems...finale was my router AND my modem died. All seems to be well now - new laptop, new phone, new modem, new router....crazy MT lacking time and energy and money to fix it faster.

Very annoying. Aren't you glad you asked? LOL

Not many people here 'get me' as well as you do. I am blessed to know you. Peace, generous helpings of holiday treats, beautiful crystalized snowflakes, and all kinds of love to you and yours this season, my wonderful friend.

You are very sweet. I wonder if anyone will suspect I am depressed for the holidays, given these poems and their content? In fact, I don't think I am - but then again, I'm an artist and a poet, so aren't I supposed to be a bit bleak and torrid?

Hope your holiday is sparkly and full of debauching - snookie.
