Mardi Gras Poem Series #1: The Mask Within
What does it mean to be truly naked?
She wears it like a mask,
Each time she comes for him.
Beneath her skin, she is
Another woman - And another –
A mirage within a dream…
Like endless reflections, a carnival game.
Her unclothed body might as well be
Wrapped in a shroud,

A ghost of flames -
She is heat, and smoke…he can sense her
Without the need to see her flesh
Her tongue, her lips, conspiring to
Conceal,
Revealing only what she carefully scripts.

That is very interesting to me on several levels.

Second, because I have never seen the movie but I have read the book. I think I first began reading erotica when I was about 12, and this was a range from Playboy and Penthouse to historical and even classical literature and poetry. I was a weird kid.

One of my most passionate fantasies is to make love to a man in an elaborate costume which would include a massive feather-covered mask. I am hoping to realize this fantasy soon. I decided recently to buy the feathers and make the mask of my dreams a reality. It's about half-done.
