I do pray that your surgery is successful.

As to leaving the smoking, when my grandfather quit, he used peppermint Lifesavers for both the fiddling fix and the oral fix. This was before I was born. All of the grandkids benefitted as if Grandpa had one in our presence, we got one as well. I think that by the time I was having Lifesavers with Grandpa that he really did not need them to put off the smoking, but liked having them to share.

No wonder you're scared
Why didn't they give you a straight answer in the beginning? I stopped smoking when I had my first hip replacement back in 1999. I've never smoked since and found it surprisingly easy to quit.

I'm in pain now with both ankles and I'm due for an appointment at the treatment room with the practice nurse on Wednesday. Looks like I'm in for the long haul again.

As a matter of fact I quit smoking after a week in the hospital. After my 1st heart attack I woke up with a ventilator tube down my throat, that will scare you straight. After a week without cigarettes it was easy to continue from there.
