I know how much you love your HOCKEY my friend and your writings about it is fascinating, I have never been into hockey but I do find the Ice Skating quite fascinating. Speed, strength, agility are part of both sports. This brings the strengths of both together and makes hockey stars even better. That's a win for Canada! And you nailed it with your point on proper skating! As a goalie, if you try to skate on the point of your blades you are going to spend a lot of time on your face instead of defending your goal!! If they have a goalie competing tonight, I would give the edge to the goalie!! I'l try to give it a watch tonight and support our athletes and your blog and passions!!

My son and my daughter and my grandson all played hockey. My Daughter and Grandson, I started at 4 years old. They loved it and we always had places to go and people to hang with for years and years with a slight hiatus in the middle..... Skating can be amazingly graceful and definitely a skill that requires practice to refine. Im never sure that many people understand how much work is required to make it look easy!! ~Farl

Once again you are truly a wealth of knowledge...I'm sorry to say that I was never aware of this competition which clearly beats the shit out of Dancing with Stars. So glad they found the funding and giving me a chance to be a fan. There was a movie made in 1992 with DB Cooper and Moira Kelly called 'Cutting Edge'....where a former hockey player from Minnesota teams up with a figure skater. It was a great date flick. Love the pictures from the Hall! [post 4252708]

Power skating clinics taught by figure skaters is not new. It started in the late 80’s or 90’s. Started at the youth hockey level and progressed to the professional level.
